What's Up ''Doc''?

The story of John Henry "Doc" Holliday

Where do we start with this great cowboy legend. To start off this dentist, gambler, and gunman was very good

and quick with his hands. Born John Henry Holliday(seen above) to parents Henry Burroughs Holliday a druggist by

trade and Alice Jane McKay on August 14, 1851 in Griffin , Georgia. John Henry Holliday would soon become a big

name. Doc Holliday to be exact. During his younger days Holliday was very close to his mother until her death on September

16, 1866.

As he got older Doc Holliday worked as a dentist, therefore he was given the nickname "Doc". Soon he was diagnosed

with tuberculosis. Doctors said he had a few months to live ,but he would prove their predictions false. Then times came

when his dentistry was not enough so he turned to gambling. Doc was a great and an addicted gambler. He was also a

heavy smoker. Doc was constantly on the run from the law along with Wyatt Earp and his brothers. On November 8, 1887

, the day of his death, Doc awoke and drank of glass of whiskey and said,"This is funny" and died. As odd as it might sound

it is true.

He was and still is buried in Linwood Cemetery. Another interesting fact about this speedy gunman is that Doc was

involved in many gunfights, such as the gunfight at OK Corral ( as seen below) and was never seriously injured. For this is not a MYTH ,but

a LEGEND. THE LEGEND OF DOC HOLLIDAY!
