Emily Dickinson's Life
Have you ever been curious about other famous people that weren't airplane pilots, presidents, inventors, or anything like that? Well, just in case you have, let us tell you about a very famous, American poet by the name of Emily Dickinson.
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was neglected in some ways by both her parents because her father was either away on a trip and her mother was depressed over his absence. This ocurred a lot and so she grew up not knowing what it was like to have the love of a mother. During her early childhood, her mother became pregnant and sent her to her Aunt Lavinia's house until after the baby's birth. During the time Emily was with her aunt, she was given all of the attention and so when she returned she felt neglected and lonely. This might be the reason for the subject of most of her poems.
Emily wrote about many subjects such as love. death, nature, life, and a few other topics. Some people say that the love poems were written after meeting Rev. Charles Wadsworth who was a married preacher. She wrote of her undying love for someone and people assume it was him. He is said to be the person who stirred up her imagination to start writing poetry. some people would say that her choice of isolation was made because she was too heartbroken to go outside. This choice made people belie she was just a myth but, this wasn't cleared until a day when some children were playing outside her window and they clearly saw that she was no myth or legend.
In conclusion, Emily Dickinson was a great poet but, was never recognized fully since only 7 of the 1775 poems she wrote were published during her lifetime. after her death in May 15, 1886, her talent was finally discovered.
