Welcome Letter
Dear Students and Parents:
Welcome to the 2005-2006 school year at MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School! We look forward to working with you to make this year a successful one! Our instructional focus statement, “Read: Understand and Use” reflects a strong academic emphasis that is MacArthur. Students must be highly dedicated to their class work but should also become active in the many clubs and outstanding extra-curricular programs on campus. We encourage you to become active members of our learning community.
We at MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School believe that all students should receive a quality education rich in academics with an emphasis on excellence, citizenship, and high achievement. Our outstanding and dedicated teachers work tirelessly to provide standards-based lessons that are challenging and meaningful. Our counselors and administrators look forward to working with students to help them reach their goals.
Central to every student’s success is a strong sense of commitment, responsibility, and self-discipline. To help students achieve their best, we provide a variety of strategies and tools. Using the Agenda on a daily basis helps students to be prepared for class. Parents should check Agendas on a regular basis, monitor the couple of hours of homework each night, and regularly discuss with students what they are learning.
This handbook contains information that will assist students in ensuring that their year at MacArthur is enjoyable and runs smoothly. After reading this, we ask that students leave this book with their parents for their ongoing review and reference. We have also included some of the more important pages in the Student Agenda.
We hope that you will join with us this year and follow our school motto:
“Spirit, Pride, and Achievement.” Here is to a successful year at MacArthur, the home of the Tigers!

Apreciables alumnos y padres de familia:
¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2005-2006 en la Escuela Intermedia Fundamental MacArthur! ¡Estamos ansiosos por trabajar con ustedes para que este año sea muy exitoso! Nuestra declaración del enfoque educativo, “Leer: Entender y usar”, refleja el énfasis académico sólido que es MacArthur. Los alumnos tienen que tener un compormiso indoblegable para con sus estudios, a medida que participan activamente en los muchos clubes y programas extracurriculares sobresalientes de la escuela. Les animamos a ser integrantes activos de nuestra comunidad de aprendizaje.
Aquí en la Escuela Intermedia Fundamental MacArthur creemos que todos los alumnos deben recibir una educación de calidad rica en erudición, con un énfasis en la excelencia, la conducta y el alto aprovechamiento. Nuestros sobresalientes y dedicados maestros trabajan infatigablement para presentar lecciones basadas en las normas que sean estimulantes y significativas. Nuestros consejeroos y administradores laboran por ayudar a los alumnos a alcanzar sus metas.
Al centro del éxito de cada alumno yace un fuerte sentido de compromiso, responsabilidad y autodisciplina. A fin de ayudar a los alumnos a dar lo mejor de sí, ofrecemos una variedad de estrategias y herramientas. Usar la agenda a diario ayuda a los alumnos a estar preparados para la clase. Los padres deben revisar las agendas con regularidad, supervisar el par de horas de tarea diaria y platicar regularmente con sus hijos sobre lo que están aprendiendo.
Este manual contiene información que ayudará a los alumnos para que su año escolar en MacArthur sea placentero y sin contratiempos. Después de leerlo, pedimos que los alumnos de jen este libro al cuidado de sus padres para su revisión y referencia continuas. También hemos incluido algunas de las páginas más destacadas en la Agenda Estudiantil.
Esperamos que se unan a nosotros este año para seguir nuestro lema escolar: “Espíritu, orgullo y aprovechamiento.” ¡Que tengamos un año exitoso en MacArthur, hogar de los Tigres?
