Gardening Club Web Page!!!
Advisor: Mr. Cheser
Meeting Days: Wednesday and Thursday at lunch. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school. Once a week during the summer.
When: Lunch and after school from 2:30-3:30.
Where: Room 24, school grounds outside Rooms 24, 23,22, and in the back areas of the baseball field.
What we do: In the Gardening club we beautify the school, do projects with math, and science. Some projects we do with science are genetics, growth ratios, and yields. For math projects we use weights and other measurements to create garden beds. We also harvest vegetables and fruits. In the Gardening club, we put together boutiques of flowers for the teachers and do other things with our rose garden flower beds.
This year we've planted our fence line with red, white, and blue sweet peas in honor of America and the September 11th attack. We are also planting sunflowers and wild flowers for the spring.
How it works: Each group is given a plot of land. The land must be prepared and a graph is created on paper of the lot. Each group creator blue prints their ideas or concept and demonstration where each item is planted. The area is also diagrammed for its irrigation and run off.
